The Lumbar Stenosis Decompression device was much like a flexible nail file that was inserted through the foramen, the “window” in the bone where a spinal nerve exits the spine. A surgeon would slide the device back and forth to shave down any areas of bone that have narrowed this window and therefore make room for the nerve; this allowing a surgeon to access areas of the spine that were otherwise inaccessible.
Best way to explain this to not only surgeons and sales representatives, but also the patient? A 3D animation of course!
Elara Systems worked closely with the company that produced this spine-tingling tool to develop the above animation that years later is still used by surgeons to accurately explain the procedure!
